Norwich put in a valiant effort against Manchester United, and although losing 2-0, the Yellow Army had a great day in good song. Here are some photos, if you’ve got any that you’d like to see here, get in touch with @yellowarmyncfc on twitter!
After the Yellow Army’s first home win in the Premiership this season with an impressive performance against Sunderland, the Canaries head to Old Trafford to take on the mighty United. One thing guaranteed is chanting from the travelling support asking for their Yellow and Green scarf’s back – a famous and ongoing United tradition in protest of their American owners. The stadium will be packed with a sea of Yellow and Green and the ever present huge Norwich faithful to support their men.
So what can Norwich expect? The Canaries last visit to Old Trafford in 2004 ended in defeat with United going home victorious with a less than convincing 2-1 victory. However a late Paul McVeigh goal made for an interesting end although a spirited Norwich fell short of rescuing a point. In the return leg, the Yellow’s shocked the footballing world by beating one of the best teams on the planet in a famous 2-0 win. Goals from Dean Ashton and Leon McKenzie will stay in the Canary fans memories forever and will give them hope to hold on to in Manchester.
The unfortunate thing for Norwich is the return of Wayne Rooney – Who has scored a more than impressive 9 goals already this season. Some would argue that this is the best time Norwich could play United with back-to-back wins over Bolton and Sunderland and the Reds drawing against Stoke and Basel respectfully. However with Rooney, along with Vidic and Hernandez hoping to make a return, Norwich have to remain realistic and hope their prayers are answered for some sort of result away from home.
Norwich more than matched Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with 11 verses 11 so you can guarantee Lambert will not hold back and give United a tough game with his typical entertaining, positive attacking football. We expect Sir Alex Ferguson’s men to win however there could be a major shock in the Barclay’s Premier League this weekend.
